ABOUT PERKINS KNIFE WORKS
Perkins Knife Works is a small Wisconsin-based bladesmith shop focused on creating handmade forged knives for chefs, outdoorsmen, collectors, and serious users.
Founded by J. Perkins ("JP"), each knife is forged, ground, heat treated, and finished individually with an emphasis on performance, durability, and craftsmanship.
Every knife begins as raw steel and is shaped by hand through a process that blends traditional forging methods with modern materials and heat treatment practices.
The goal is simple: create knives that perform exceptionally well, hold up to real-world use, and reflect the character of handmade craftsmanship.
No mass production. No shortcuts. One knife at a time.
THE PHILOSOPHY
A handmade knife should be more than a tool. It should feel balanced in the hand, inspire confidence in use, and develop character over time.
Whether it's a chef knife destined for daily kitchen work or a hunting knife built for years of field use, every knife is made with the intention that it will be used, appreciated, and passed on.
CRAFTSMANSHIP & EXPERIENCE
The five knives shown above were created for the American Bladesmith Society Journeyman Smith presentation evaluation. Each knife was individually crafted, heat treated, ground, and finished by hand as part of the process required to earn the Journeyman Smith rating.
Successfully earning the Journeyman Smith stamp reflects years of dedication to developing the skills, precision, and attention to detail required in custom bladesmithing. The standards applied to those knives continue to influence every piece produced at Perkins Knife Works.
From forging and heat treatment to final grinding and finishing, every knife is built with a focus on performance, durability, and craftsmanship.
